What you'll do

If you are training for a challenging long-distance open water swim in cold water, this trip is designed for you.

 

Under the expert eye of our experienced swim coaches, you will have all the support that you need to complete six days of intensive open water training.

 

It is ideal for those planning to undertake a solo crossing of the English Channel, Cook Strait, Catalina Channel, Strait of Gibraltar, Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, North Channel, Molokaʻi Channel or Tsugaru Strait.

Your itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to the Training Camp

We will meet at Lisbon Airport. During the trip to the small village of Sesimbra we will do a presentation of the whole Training Camp and will discuss in detail the plans for the week ahead.

 

When we arrive, we will do a short swim to adapt to the water temperature. After this it’s time for an early night to prepare for the next day.

Day 2

Improve your technique

Following breakfast, we head to the pool to film your stroke underwater using specialised video equipment. We review the videos with detailed stroke analysis for each person.

 

In the afternoon, we are back in the sea to improve our endurance with another bay swim.

Day 3

The big day

This is a big day as we fit in two swim sessions (one long and one short) in the beautiful Sesimbra Coast, where you'll benefit from expert guides and excellent training conditions.

 

On this day we will focus on the goals of each swimmer and on your feeding plan.

The six-hour qualification

This is your chance to complete your six-hour qualification swim under the watchful eye of our highly experienced coaches.

 

For all others, it’s a chance to see what you can do. We will provide full safety boat cover and nutritional support during your swim.  The day will end with a yoga session.

Recovery day

This day is planned with an easy, but important, recovery swim after the previous day’s efforts.

 

After lunch you will have the opportunity to get to know the region and plan your future training with your coach.

You are ready for the crossing!

There’s time for one more morning warm-down swim session before the trip ends.

 

We will swim as a group in the Sesimbra Bay, which will be an excellent time to put into practice everything you’ve learned in the previous days.
